A local South London running club originally set up in Dulwich's Clock House pub in 1980, still helping runners achieve their goals and have fun across road, track, parkrun, multi-trail and cross-country events!
about us
We have approximately 250 members of all abilities who regularly compete in road, cross-country, multi-terrain, fell and track races.
We welcome as members those who wish to run competitively - as well as those who wish simply to maintain a level of fitness.
New runners over the age of 16 of all abilities are always welcome.
Many of our runners have their own personal targets. Some simply want to maintain fitness or to get fit, others are looking to complete their first race or improve their personal best in a range of events such as the London Marathon or build on their progress at Parkrun.
Each year we hold a Club Championship series of races, compete in road and cross-country leagues as well as take part in stand-alone events such as the Green Belt Relay and Masters Relays.
We host a popular Children's Fun Run and Midsummers Relay Race in Dulwich Park - We had a successful event on Wednesday 27 June 2018 with a great kids race with 60 runners to set a marker for the record 87 relay teams to follow.
We also have a strong social side to the Club with regular socials, such as pizza nights, curry nights, tap room runs (well walks by the end!) between local craft breweries, quiz nights, Christmas party, as well as our post-run drinks in our Club House.
When and Where do we meet
Wednesday Night
If this sounds of interest please pop along to one of our Wednesday Night Club Runs.
Guests are very welcome and encouraged to try us out. Theres is £1 fee that members and guests are expected to pay each time they run.
You can turn up on any Wednesday without prior notice, there is no need to ask or notify us first.
These runs are generally suitable for anyone who can run for 30 minutes or more without stopping no matter what speed.
We place a strong emphasis on the social aspect both during and after people's runs. Multiple running groups leave our Burbage Road Club House to tackle South London's streets, hills and parks with various routes (generally 5 miles to 11 miles) tailored to the time of year and ability. You are able to run any distance at a pace of your choice.
As a new member we realise it can be a bit daunting at first but don't worry, whatever standard you are we will make sure you run with others of a similar ability. We have a rota of established Club Runners to run with new members.
Our Club House has shower and changing facilities, off road parking and a bar offering hot and cold drinks for post-run socialising.
Time: Please come along at 7.15pm for 7.30pm.
Location: Edward Alleyn Club, 83-85 Burbage Road, SE24 9HD - free off road parking and a short jog away from Herne Hill, West Dulwich and North Dulwich stations, and various bus stops (serving routes 3, 37, 42, 68, 196, 201, 322, 468, P4). Our "X marks the spot" is shown below!
More details on the Club House facilities can be found by clicking on this link
tuesday night sessions
Alternatively please pop along to one of our track sessions on a Tuesday evening led by our coaches Steve, Katie and Anna. These are designed to improve both speed and technique and are again suitable for all abilities.
Late September to mid-April 2019: Crystal Palace Arena, SE19 2BB. £2.50 per session.
End April to end August: Dulwich College Track, College Road, SE21 7LE. £2 per session.
September Hill sessions at Sydenham Hill station (College Road side), SE21 7HW. £ Free.
Time: It is advisable to arrive from 7:00pm, with the warm up drills and stretches starting at 7:10pm, and the main session around 7.20pm.
Crystal Palace Arena - please tell the reception staff you are with Dulwich Runners and then make your way to the track and ask for Ros, which is where you pay. We are normally by the finish line.
Dulwich College - we meet at the green pavilion by the tennis courts which is where you pay.
Sydenham Hill station - we meet by the gate at the bottom of the path up to the Woodhouse PH.
sunday runs
Depending on the time of year a number of informal groups take part in long Sunday group runs from places such as Dulwich Park, Brockwell Park and the Crystal Palace / Beckenham area.
how to join
At first you don't need to be a member to run with us you can “try us out” , but we would expect you to join after a few runs and we believe that our annual membership is very good value for money, with the English Athletics affiliation giving you race entry discounts, our membership giving local discounts in the area and free access to fun and rewarding Club and Inter-club races such as the Assembly League and Surrey Cross-Country League. We also have private Facebook and Strava groups for Club Members.
Note that there is also a fee of £1 for members and non-members alike to be paid every Wednesday that you turn up to run with the Club. You can turn up on any Wednesday without prior notice, there is no need to ask or notify us first.
